Visions of TCO
Ü envisions TCO thriving by leading the community in music, art,
education, technology, and more, achieving three stages of goals step by step
Stage 1
Because of the limited parking space and the concerning crime rate around the neighborhood,
Clinton ST is TCO's biggest challenge.
And, we are up to turn it to our advantage
The very first stage is to truly understand who we are and what we have
We focus on the transition and security with very gradual steps to increase revenue
Increase publicity and revenue
1. Thorough knowledge of TCO's history and resource
A. Review of financial gain/loss
B. Basic analysis
C. Detailed inventory (w/ pics and specs) of all our rental items (sets and costumes)
D. Create online inventory for future renter
2. Broaden the ways of rentals
A. Increase set rentals by offering smaller scales or even individual pieces of rental after securing larger scales of rentals
B. Increase individual costume rentals following festivities like Halloween, Fairy Fest, proms,..., or self created theme/event like TCO fashion week etc.
C. Practice Room Rentals
D. Space Rentals for Yoga or mild activities
E. Tool Rentals (Wood shop?)
3. TCO online/physical regular publication
A. Invite all locals to list their events on our website for free
B. Provide paid-ads option through our social media (fb page, email, ...)
4. Transportation improvements
*The goal here is to make travelling easier for new audience/participants from in and out of the area
A. Develop special/dedicated bus line from BC Junction at certain time
B. Develop special/dedicated bus line from BU at certain time
C. Develop special/dedicated bus line from Owego at certain time
D. Develop special/dedicated transportation from certain hotels at certain time (off season to start with)
E. Chat with TCO's neighbors for safe parking during certain time
F. Chat with Uber and Cab services
5. Create more performing opportunities
A. Cash award competitions for different levels or categories
*With careful calculation, we provide cash award based on the estimation of application fee.
A1. Vocal and Instrumental
A2. Poster
A3. Web design
A4. Poem (for later publication in Stage 2)
A5. Composition (for later publication in Stage 2)
B. Create paid to perform training programs in addition to the existed resident artist programs
*Lots of music graduates paid thousands of dollars to participate programs/festivals just for the opportunities to sing or conduct
6. Start a recording studio
A.To record our own performances
B. To potentially sell the recorded performances
C. To rent out the recording studio
Ways to save more
1. Use Ü as the conductor
2. Use Ü as the rehearsal/production pianist
3. Use Ü as the stage director
*There could be only one of the above three at one time.
4. Check addresses and names to reduce sending duplicates to different people with the same address
5. Provide the option to save trees with online publication/notification only
6. Depending on the financial state, consider changing office hours
7. Perform Ü's composition(s) to save fees (music rental, royalties,...)
Establish more connections
1. Connect with State Theatre in Ithaca for potential TCO smaller productions
2. Intimate or outdoor productions at Treman Center close to Treman Park
*The two above may very likely generate more costume/set rentals or audience for TCO
3. Consider performance spaces in BU if it makes financial sense
4. Consider spaces in hotels for potential concerts, competitions, shuttles,..., or events
5. Discuss further collaboration with the City, County,...
6. Encouraging different genres of performers to consider renting TCO as a performance space by producing a few different types of performances
7. Produce a religious themed production to connect with audience who only listen to religious music
*With a taste of high quality of performers, we have a good chance of gaining more audience
Develop new services
*Because of the services TCO provides, there may be more grant opportunities as well
1. TCO kids
*In order to grow supporter, we need to educate people first.
A. Indoor Play Area
If TCO could dedicate a safe play area for children, I think there are parents who desperately need indoor activities when the weather is too hot or wet
B. Opera Story Time
Just like story time in the libraries, TCO tells Opera Stories, and introduces Opera tunes
2. New classes for all levels of participants:
Languages
Music Basics / Composition
Movement/Acting Classes
Vocal or instrumental group classes or private lessons
Woodwork Workshops
Costume Workshops
Photography and modelling
3. TCO creates
Take individual or group contracts to build costumes, stage sets, small furniture, music,...
4. TCO listings and regular publication
5. TCO live channel
6. TCO recording studio
*4 to 6 could potentially lead to label and artist management in the future
7. TCO's incubators!? What else could TCO's giant space do?
Following the steps above, TCO may move on to the next step in 1 to 3 years.
